To the members of the Historic Advent Sabbath Society, greetings and salutations.

 

 

Proverbs 3:56"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine ownunderstanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

 

It is with much sadness I am writing this today. I praise the Lord for the way He has led me out ofmy past experiences with Roman Catholicism and Atheism to the Advent message. The more Ilearn of Jesus and His love, the more I realise I don’t know Him and His character as I ought.

 

1 Corinthians 8:2 "And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as heought to know.

 

"Sadly however, the experience I have made with HASS has been a bittersweet one. The message to the church of Laodicea has taken on a far more tangible meaning in my mind.

 

Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need ofnothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

 

The Harvest is now. The shaking is present truth. The 3rd Angel is doing his work of sealing and all those who have failed to heed the warnings of the 1st and 2nd Angels will be found wanting.

 

These words of Jesus have really been set home to me with the experiences I have made,specifically over the past year.As most members are aware, the events of the field delegation at camp Obadiah just past werevery polarising. It was evident that this church doesn’t function as God intends. This was apparent by the lack of disclosure and the censure of discussion about important issues such as the gold.

 

What was exhibited was kingly authority, be it intentional or unintentional, I am not the one to judge. Since such times there have been no less than 3 meetings with John involving Ben, Paul and myself addressing this among other issues. The root cause became blindinglyapparent at John Thiel’s August visit to Brisbane where he preached on the “Arm of the Lord”. No less than 3 of the brethren understood the doctrine which was presented to be contrary to the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy.

 

"It is a wrong education to teach our people to lean on human aids, instead of going to the Lord inprayer. The enemy of souls has been the instigator of this, that minds might become obscured.The people are not to be instructed differently. God's people are to meet together in counsel, butno leader or worker is to take the position that God's children are to make no move until he is firstconsulted. Those who bear responsibilities in the work are to cooperatewith heavenly angels inteaching men and women to look to God as the source of their strength." {SpM 415.3}"

 

Our ministers are not to hover over the churches, regarding the churches in some particularplace as their special care. And our churches should not feel jealous and neglected if they do notreceive ministerial labor. They should themselves take up the burden, and labor most earnestlyfor souls. Believers are to have root in themselves, striking firm root in Christ, that they may bearfruit to His glory. {AUCR, August 1, 1902 par. 7}"  

 

"The ministers are hovering over the churches, which know the truth, while thousands areperishing out of Christ. If the proper instruction were given, if the proper methods were followed,every church member would do his work as a member of the body . . . . They should be taughtthat unless they can stand alone, without a minister, they need to be converted anew, andbaptized anew. They need to be born again." {General Conference Bulletin, April 12, 1901, p.204}

 

I would encourage you all to read the entire letter in the 'Spalding and Magan Collection' entitled“Go Not to Human Agencies”, starting on page 414 Although it was expressed by John Thiel that the principle communicated in the sermon inBrisbane was not as intended, the sermon was nevertheless placed online. The counsel we had together over the confusion that the sermon presented was utterly disregarded.

 

Later, when challenged about the issue again, John expressed that those of us who had questioned the doctrine he presented had misunderstood because of “unsanctified ears”.

 

Nevertheless we determined to counsel again with John. This happened October 17, 2013. All Brisbane Church members were invited, however not all attended.The points raised are as follows.∙ 1. The work of the minister and his appointed task. I.e. The original Church model of raising up new congregations and moving on to do likewise elsewhere while avoiding hovering over churches.∙ 2. The events surrounding and the sermon preached at your last visit in Brisbane. (Online Episode)∙ 3. Lack of a multitude of counsellors and dangers associated.∙ 4. The Requirements for ministers of the Gospel. I.e. Family and being of Good Report.After 5 and a half hours of sheer exasperation, the meeting ended with no progress. It became clear that John operates his ministry in utter disregard of the Biblical principle. 

 

“ in the multitude ofcounsellors there is safety.” (Prov 11:14)Isaiah 14:1314

 

"The Devil himself ...hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exaltmy throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High."

 

In one of the personal meetings over the course of the past year that I had with John, I challenged him saying that it is not possible for him to know everything about the Bible and theSpirit of Prophecy. John's response? “I know enough”. If I am totally truthful with myself, that was the point when I realised I could no longer be united to this man's ministry.

 

Therefore, I hereby formally withdraw my membership from HASS. I cannot remain connected to a man who puts himself in the place of God, exalting himself above the clear word. If I could, then I may as well return to the Catholic church as any
